The official website of the Kono Hon wo Nusumu Mono wa (Whoever Steals This Book) movie unveiled the main cast, additional staff, theme song, trailer, and a main visual (pictured right) on Thursday. The movie adapting Nowaki Fukamidori‘s fantasy mystery novel will premiere in Japanese theatres on December 26.

Fukuoka is directing the movie at Kagome Company. Keiko Kurosawa (Kanata no Astra) is designing the characters and Michiru Oshima (Little Witch Academia) is composing the music.
Fukamidori published the novel under the Kadokawa Bunko imprint in October 2020. Kakeru Sora drew a manga adaptation in Young Ace from December 2021 to March 2023. Kadokawa published the third and final volume in April 2023.
Yen Press licensed the novel and manga in English in August 2023 and published the first novel volume on February 18. The third manga volume went on sale in October 2024.
