The official website for the Tensei shitara Slime Datta Ken: Soukai no Namida-hen (That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime: Tears of the Azure Sea) anime movie revealed additional cast, theme song, key visual (pictured), and a trailer on Tuesday. The original movie is scheduled to open in Japanese theaters on February 27.

Yasuhito Kikuchi (Tensei shitara Slime Datta Ken) is directing the second movie at 8bit. Kikuchi is also penning the script with Toshizou Nemoto (Log Horizon) and Ryouma Ebata (Mahou Sensou) returns to design the characters. Hitoshi Fujima (Elements Garden) (Senki Zesshou Symphogear) is composing the music.
Singer-songwriter TRUE (Tensei shitara Slime Datta Ken) is performing the theme song “Utopia,” which is previewed in the trailer below.
Produced by animation studio 8bit, the first season aired in 24 episodes in Fall 2018. The second season aired in split cours in Winter 2021 and Summer 2021, while the third season aired in 24 episodes in Spring 2024.
The Tensei shitara Slime Datta Ken: Guren no Kizuna-hen (That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime: Scarlet Bond) anime movie opened in Japan in November 2022, grossing over 1.5 billion yen (approx. US$10.5 million).
Kodansha bundled five original video anime episodes with 12th through 16th manga volumes between July 2019 and November 2020. The three-episode Coleus no Yume (Visions of Coleus) side story anime streamed in Japan last November.
The Tensura Nikki: Tensei shitara Slime Datta Ken (The Slime Diaries: That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime) spin-off anime aired in Spring 2021. Crunchyroll and Funimation streamed the anime series with English subtitles.
Shounen Sirius began serializing Kawakami’s manga adaptation in March 2015. Kodansha published the 30th volume on October 9.
Fuse originally began penning the novel on the Shousetsuka ni Narou website in 2013. Micro Magazine began publishing the series under its GC Novels imprint in May 2014, with illustrations by Mitz Vah. The 39th volume went on sale on September 16.
Kodansha USA licensed the manga in English in October 2016 and released the 27th volume on September 23. The 28th volume is planned for a December 23 release.
Yen Press licensed the light novel in English in April 2017 and released the 21st volume on July 8. The 22nd volume is scheduled to go on sale on February 10, 2026.
