The official website of the television anime adaptation of Satsuki Nakamura‘s Futsutsuka na Akujo dewa Gozaimasu ga: Suuguu Chouso Torikae Den (Though I Am an Inept Villainess: Tale of the Butterfly-Rat Body Swap in the Maiden Court) light novel revealed the main cast pair, a second teaser visual (pictured above), and the second teaser promotional video on Monday. The anime series is scheduled to premiere in 2026.
Voice actresses Manaka Iwami (Tensei Oujo to Tensai Reijou no Mahou Kakumei) and Natsumi Kawaida (A-Rank Party wo Ridatsu shita Ore wa, Moto Oshiego-tachi to Meikyuu Shinbu wo Mezasu.) are starring as Reirin Kou and Keigetsu Shu, respectively.
Mitsue Yamazaki (Maoujou de Oyasumi) is directing the television anime at Doga Kobo. Yoshiko Nakamura (Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun) is handling the series composition, and Ai Kikuchi (Kawaii dake ja Nai Shikimori-san) is designing the characters.
Nakamura originally began the fantasy romance novel on the Shousetsuka ni Narou website in July 2020. Ichijinsha began printing the series under its Ichijinsha Novels imprint in December that year, featuring illustrations by Kana Yuki (number24). The tenth volume went on sale on April 2, with the 11th volume planned for a September 30 release.
Comic ZERO-SUM began serializing a manga adaptation by Ei Ohitsuji in December 2020. Ichijinsha published the eighth volume on February 25, with the ninth volume going on sale on September 30.
Seven Seas Entertainment licensed both the light novel and manga in English in March 2023. The ninth novel volume shipped on August 26, with the tenth volume scheduled to be released in March 2026. The seventh manga volume was released on May 13, with the eighth volume planned for a December 16 release.
