The Chained Soldier manga is taking an unexpected break due to health issues affecting illustrator Yohei Takemura, with the series set to resume on June 14. Takemura announced the hiatus on his official X (formerly Twitter) account, apologizing for the break taking place on May 31 and confirming the return date.
Popular manga scanlation website MangaDex has responded after it was forced to remove “approximately 7,000 titles” in select languages following a series of DMCA takedown requests on or around May 16, 2025. It addressed several questions within the community, such as how takedown requests are handled and how the process for disputing a takedown request on MangaDex works.
Kodama Tales, a subsidiary of Kyodo Printing, has announced the upcoming global release of the Complete Edition of Baki the Grappler manga, marking the martial arts series’ first official English release. The 24-volume series, originally published by Akita Publishing, is set to go on sale worldwide in October 2025. Pre-order details will be shared at a later date.

Hiromu Arakawa’s iconic manga series Fullmetal Alchemist is making its debut on WEBTOON, arriving May 7 in a newly reformatted edition designed for the platform’s vertical scroll format and presented in full color.
From Old Country Bumpkin to Master Swordsman, the manga adaptation of the popular light novel by Shigeru Sagazaki, is coming today to WEBTOON. Set to release today at 5:00 p.m. PT, the series will arrive in full color and reformatted for WEBTOON’s signature vertical scroll format.

The More Than a Married Couple, But Not Lovers manga has entered an indefinite hiatus ahead of its finale. The announcement came through separate X posts by the manga’s author, Yuki Kanamaru, and Kadokawa (its publisher).
Square Enix’s Monthly Big Gangan has announced the serialization of The Apothecary Diaries: Xiaolan’s Memoirs on the MangaUP platform. The very first spin-off of the series follows the point of view of Maomao’s friend, Xiaolan.
It is written by original light novel author Natsu Hyuga and illustrated by Itsuki Nanao, who is also currently responsible for the composition of The Apothecary Diaries manga adaptation with artist Nekokurage. The spin-off manga began on March 23, 2025.
Summer Pockets is officially getting a manga adaptation by wogura, which will be serialized on Shueisha’s Tonari no Young Jump website. The announcement was made during the first day of AnimeJapan 2025, while the manga artist left a comment on their official X shortly afterwards.
